“The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

(2 Chronicles 16:9)

Have you ever tried to solve your own problems (Duh! We all do!)?  God has brought me through battles that He alone could fight and win.  I have seen His faithfulness throughout my life.  He has done nothing but prove to me over and over that He is in control and that His ways are higher…and better than my ways,  yet when I’m struggling and overwhelmed with fear my memory seems to fail me and I begin seeking  human solutions with less than victorious results.

There was a man in the Bible that had the same problem as I do.  King Asa (2 Chronicles 16: 1-10) had defeated the Ethiopian army with the help of God alone.  But when the next battle came he seemed to lose his confidence in God and because of fear sought out a human solution to the battle at hand.  King Asa’s way did appear to solve the problem but because he did not seek the LORD’s direction, he missed his chance of winning a much larger battle and was doomed to be at war from then on.  King Asa was challenged to remember what it was like when he fully relied on God and deemed a fool for thinking he could rely on his own efforts.

I can just imagine God looking down…ready to strengthen, ready to give courage, ready to give us exactly what we need to win the daily battles that come with living this life on earth.  I can just imagine Him whispering:  “Hey, remember me?  Remember just yesterday when you called on me and I helped you?  Remember how you relied on me to work things out for you and I did?  I’m still here!”

The eyes of the LORD…He is searching for those who trust Him.  He longs to be our help in times of need.  I am motivated and determined to seek God’s help…has He not orchestrated my life?  If He created me and if He knows the plans He has for me, then doesn’t it make sense that He would know the best way to solve my problems?

I challenge you to remember what God has done for you.  I challenge you to commit yourself fully to Him.  In times of struggle, remember that He is still in control and He wants to be your strength and He wants to provide the best solution and He wants to win the battle for you!
