Beginning Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11 a.m., we will be starting a Bible-based compassion and support group for those who have been diagnosed with a chronic illness—such as arthritis, lupus, Fibromyalgia, chemical sensitivities/environmental illness, pain or other symptoms.  Attendees will receive renewed hope and practical tips for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.  Meeting will be held on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month at Hillside Church.  Want more information? Call the group leader, LaVon Rose, at (925) 439-0824.

Also,

This Saturday, September 25 from 10 am to 5 pm at Hillside Church, there will be an Open Carriers Appreciation Barbecue and Pot Luck Picnic.  While this is not an official Hillside Church event, everyone is welcome to attend.  It will be a wonderful time to become educated about California Open Carry laws and general gun safety.  Donation is $5.00 per person for hot dogs, hamburgers and more.  Hillside is sponsoring a bounce house for the kids as this is a fun family friendly event.  Please note that alcohol is not permitted.  Those who will be exercising their 2nd amendment right will be doing so with unloaded guns. You do not need to carry a gun in order to attend the picnic.

Hello Hillside Family & Friends,

Well, we're off and running in our new message series on marriage called "Marriage Matters."  We had a great time last week talking about 6 keys that unlock the potential of your marriage for it to become all God wants it to be.  What was great is to see how they also apply to other relationships in our lives.  We don't have room to give you all the really good stuff, but the keys were:

Key #1: Communication.

Key #2: Consideration.

         1. By being helpful.

                                        2. Sympathize with their doubts and fears.

                  3. Forgiving their mistakes.

Key #3: Compromise.

Key # 4: Contact.

Key #5: Commitment.

Key #6: Christ.

If you missed the message last week, you can listen to it, watch it, or download it at: http://www.hillsidecares.org/messages.html

This week, we get a little more specific by talking about our relationships with a message called, "FINDING THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE."  Now, some of you are saying, "Oh well, it's too late for that message.  I'm already married."  This message will help you discover and deal with issues that may be points of tension in your marriage or relationships right now.  If you are single or engaged, this will be especially helpful to you as well.

PRAYER UPDATE FROM STEVE GLEDHILL:

"My cardiologist found a few things I have to deal with before Prostate Cancer surgery. The most pressing is a possible blockage in the left & right arteries of my heart. I am scheduled for a Heart Cath on Monday 9/27.  If they find clear arteries, I will have surgery on Oct 7.  If I need stents, surgery will be in November.  Pray for me to be wise with my time management.  It looks like my schedule just filled up with more medical stuff.  My first reflections on this caused disappointment.  I'm good now.  I'm trusting God for His marvelous grace.”

  PAVINGFUND

We are in desperate need of parking lot repair.  We had an outstandingly gracious bid from a friend of Hillside who owns a paving company to repair and re-asphalt our lot for $9000.  Please consider what you can give above your regular giving to help with this need.  Thanks so much!

KINGDOM PEDDLERS

Do you like to bicycle?  Hillside is beginning a fellowship group for those who love to ride bicycles.  To let us know of your interest, click either bike below and fill out the online interest form.

I'm looking forward to seeing you Sunday.  Be sure to tell your friends and family about our marriage series.  This could save them thou$and$ in counseling bills.   Even if your marriage is great, come learn how to make a good thing even better!  May God bless you and I'll see you Sunday!

Your friend,

Pastor David

Hello Hillside Family,

Every week I feel passionate about the message I give and I want so much to be of help to you.  Last week I went deeper personally than I have in a very long time.  If you missed it, all of our message are available on audio or video on this site.  I centered our focus on why we should share Christ with other people.  This is something that consumes my thoughts.  This Sunday, I want to direct our attention to how to help people see and understand the message of Jesus.  It isn't going to be about sandwich board signs or hell-fire-and-brimstone preaching.  It will be helpful tips for sharing the love of Jesus with your family, friends, and associates.  Even if you aren't sure what you believe, this will be a message that will be of help to you.  We've got some great worship music planned and we'll be celebrating Communion together.  It's going to be a great Sunday.
