Hello Hillside Friends and Family! This weekend
is going to be very meaningful as we pause to remember the sacrifices made for all of us who enjoy our freedom as Americans.
This Sunday we will take some time to reflect and thank God for all who have given their lives to make this
country great. We will also celebrate the Lord's Supper and the freedom we have in Christ as we remember the
sacrifice He made for us on the cross. It will be a wonderful Sunday.
The Adult Bible Study continues this week as we enjoy our time together at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited to join
this fun, informal study.
A NOTE FROM MARK & KELLY YOUNG AND THE YOUTH
GROUP STAFF
We want to say a huge THANK YOU!!!! We could not have pulled last Saturday's event off without the help of each of you!!!
Organizing these big events is challenging and often times stressful, but even if 1 person accepts Christ it's all worth it,
and we had 13 accept Christ, so even better!!!! Mission accomplished!! Even if you didn't get to help out in the area
you hoped or as much as you thought, just having the adult presence there was so important. It helps to maintain some semblance
of order and it shows the Hillside teens that they are important to the larger Hillside family! On another note, we're also interested in gathering your feedback and suggestions
on the event. There is always room for improvement! And we always make a conscious effort to use the feedback we receive.
We will also be asking our teens for their input. Last time we had the request to do the ice cream again, so we did! They
wanted more worship, so we gave it to them! All these previous suggestions helped to make this STORM the best one yet and
hopefully the next one will be even better! Please respond with any feedback or suggestions you have. Again, we can't
say thank you enough!!! I know the Lord is looking down and saying "Well done my faithful servants!"

Hello Hillside Family & Friends! People have said to
me lately, “I just don’t see how I’m going to make it through this recession.” Or “I just don’t
see how I’ll ever be able to change… I just don’t see how my marriage is ever going to get any better…
I just don’t see any hope for the future… I just don’t see this situation working out…”
When people say “I just don’t see,” they’re using a phrase of hopelessness. In
our series, "Hoping For A Miracle," we’re looking at antidotes to hopelessness.
How you see life determines your stress, your success, your stability, your strength, it determines everything in your
life. This Sunday I'm going to share a message called, "WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR WAY CLEARLY." It's never too late to let God correct your vision. Don't miss the great time together.
The STORM is almost here!!! IMPORTANT! If you volunteered to help
(or still want to!) the teen STORM event is this Saturday, 5/22. If you
are one of our drivers, you need to be at the church at 4:45 p.m. so we can organize you with our teens and send you
out. If you are helping, but not as a driver, the actual event activities start at 7:00, so please plan to
be there a little before that! We can never have enough adults at this event! Even if you're just walking around helping
to make sure teens stay with the group. If you want to help, but haven't talked to anyone yet or you're unsure of what your
role is and where you're needed, please give Kelly Young a call at 925-207-4612. You won't want to miss out on this
event!!! Lives will be changed and an AWESOME time will be had by all!!! If you can't be there on Saturday, we
can still use your prayers! Please pray that LOTS of teens will be able to come to the event, that the event will
be safe and fun, and that the teen's hearts will be open to hearing God's message for them. Pray for our worship band, Eden,
and our guest speaker, Dustin Ward. Pray that they will arrive safely and that God will use them mightily to reach these students!
Also, pray that lots of volunteers show up to help! Feel free to bring a carload (or two) of students to the event!
Pick up the neighborhood teens and bring them down! This event is for students in 6th - 12th grades. No younger children,
please! We'll have our hands full with the older kids!!! Hope to see you there!!!
The Adult Bible Study took
a break for Mother's Day last week, but we'll be back this week enjoying our time together at 9 a.m. as usual. Everyone
is invited to join this fun, informal study.

Hello Hillside! I find that we don't know that
God is all we need until God is all we've got. I think that's why God often allows a shortage, a deficiency,
a lack in our life. In light of the fact that many of us are feeling the effects of a difficult economy,
I wanted to be of help and talk about how God provides for us. I'm going to start a series Sunday called,
"When You're
Hoping For A Miracle."
I know that Hillside Church needs a couple of miracles and I am very excited to see what God is going to do for us.
Some of you are feeling an emotional or spiritual deficit and we'll address that too. Sunday's message
is called, "When You're Running Out of Everything." I am looking forward to sharing this encouraging message.
The Adult Bible Study took a break for Mother's Day last week, but we'll be back this week enjoying our time together
at 9 a.m. as usual. Everyone is invited to join this fun, informal study.
DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY! This Saturday, May 15 we'll have several
doors of opportunity as we're going to go around the Hillside neighborhood and invite people to come to our block party.
We'll start at the church at 9:30 a.m. with a brief time to give instructions, training and encouragement. Please wear
casual clothes as we don't want to be confused with the cults or sales people (and we will NOT be riding bikes even though
Hillside loves riding bikes ). We won't be out long and this will be a great time to get
to know our neighbors. The whole family is invited! Speaking of block party...
