Hillside Happenings

 Blog/change_cartoon2.jpg

Hello Hillside Family & Friends!

I love the cartoon above.  It is one of those cartoons that's funny, but hits us close to home at the same time.  The truth is, we all get set in doing things our own way.  Even making those changes that we really want to make can be difficult because we get used to doing things a certain way.  Change can be tough, but change can also bring about healing, freedom, and joy.  A week from this Sunday (on Sept. 27), we are going to begin our Sunday and weekly small group series on "Life's Healing Choices."  I guarantee it will be the highlight of our year in our spiritual growth together.  This 8-week spiritual growth experience is based on The Beatitudes and we will discover how to find freedom from our hurts, hang-ups, and habits.  This is a great study to invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family to attend.  If you can host a group (have it meet in your home), please let me know as soon as possible at PastorDClift@aol.com.  We need more homes.  If you host, you get to pick the night and the time of the meeting.  We also need leaders (to play the DVD and lead the discussion) for each group.  Training will be given to those who have never done it.  By the way, it's really simple!  Don't miss it!  It's going to be fantastic!

Because of the wonderful opportunities for all of us to learn and grow, I am certain that the devil is going to do all he can to keep us from making the changes that God wants us to make.  That's why this Sunday we are going to spend some time in prayer in our service for all of us who are going to take this journey together.  I will also be sharing some helpful scripture that will motivate, strengthen, and encourage you.

We'd like to have another baptism before the weather turns cold.  If you would like to show people that you are a follower of Jesus Christ by taking this step of obedience, please email me at PastorDClift@aol.com or fill out a slip this Sunday.

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday!

Your friend,
Pastor David Clift
